Tight job market? No problem.

Situation

A California firm that specializes in performing background checks was in dire need of an office manager, yet classified advertising in local newspapers produced only nine applicants for the position. In addition, all of the applicants were currently unemployed, and none of them were qualified for the job.

Enter PDP

Professional DynaMetric Programs used JobScan® to define the attributes necessary for the position. Using PDP's information, the company reworded its ad copy.

Solution

The revised classified ad ran in the same newspapers as were used previously, and for the same length number of days. This time, there were more than 70 responses were received; most of those responses were from individuals who were qualified for the position and currently employed.

Conventional wording:
Clerical position. F/T job. Heavy phones verifying references and writing reports on a PC. Credit exp. helpful. Strong growth and good income w/benefits in Dublin.

Revised wording using JobScan®:
Admin. opportunity. Confident person seeking a job w/structure and challenge. Fast paced problem solver w/credit or HR exp. will be rewarded. Heavy PC and phones in Dublin.

Comment from the CEO

"The biggest result - the applicants were not 'unemployed,' they were employed individuals impressed with the organization and the position, in that it was something they had been looking for - the 'perfect work environment.'
